Malta: Day 2 - Gozo

Gozo is the second largest of the three Maltese islands and after doing a bit of reading about it, we decided to take the ferry over for a day trip. Gozo is mainly agricultural but on the way going there, things looked pretty dry in Malta. The temperature has been in the mid 30s C everywhere so it was very, very hot! We took the local bus to the ferry terminal in Cirkewwa which is the farthest point North on the island of Malta. Then we took a ferry over to Gozo which took about 30 minutes.

On the way to Cirkewwa

Extremely dry countryside

We boarded a bus at the ferry terminal in Gozo and went to the beach at Marsalforn. It was extremely crowded and HOT!  So we decided that a cool veranda and some lunch was in order. We found the perfect place at L'Oro da Napoli.

Then a slow stroll through town (it was too hot to do much more than drag our feet).

A ferry ride and bus ride back to Valletta made for a long, hot day. It was good to have a hot shower and get into our pyjamas. The temperature reached 35C today.  Thank goodness for an air conditioned apartment or we'd be suffocating.
